fashiiiiiion

This assignment was all about fashion, and I never realized how difficult that would be to shoot. Each of these photos has a similarity and that would be the "Diva" ring my model was wearing. That was my main focus in these shots. Though in the third picture it would appear to be the shoes that would be the selling point. In these photos you can see different backgrounds and the model (my sister, Alexis) either looking at the camera or away in a distance.
In these photos, you can see the shapes of the model's face and body and curves and connections of the ring. In the first photo there are lines and edges, in the second there are many lines and different angles. In the third, it is from a downward angle wear you can practically see the model, from head to toe. Theses photos were intentional as I placed the model just so and climbed around like a crazy person trying to get the shot wanted.
These images have warm light as I took them in the afternoon. In some of these photos, I have over exposure of the sun as I wanted it to be like this. These photos were taken outdoors.
I would like to think these photographs were successful in fulfilling the assignment. I personally admire them and think they are fun and colorful. I enjoyed this assignment and will never take another like it lightly. It was not easy finding something on the model to focus on and then going with it.

landscapes #2

For my second set of landscape photos, they appear a bit different from my first though much rock structure is still persistent in view.in these images you can see a bit more landscape and definition and design of the rocks and shape the creates around them. These images are figurative.
In these photos, one can see the circles and curves of the multiple rocks and the deep pockets and crevices surrounding the earth. Also, there is a plain picture of some natural design on the rock. Tones are natural. Things in this photo were intentional and just how I wanted them to be.
The light in the images, alike the others, is not too bright and had to be edited as it was gloomy and overcast day.
I like these pictures. I have never really paid attention to taking landscape photos so this was a new experience for me as a photographer. I was lucky enough to stumble upon a beautiful location and with time I will learn to take better pictures of the world.

I am so indecisive when it comes to photos but here are just a few of the many landscape images I took. In these photos you can see rock structures and the detail of the grain and matter. The colors of the rock blend and melt together, which gives this figurative photo a warm glow.
Shapes to be seen in these photos consists of mostly lines, and dots and curves and ripples and ridges and edges, etc. Some shadows are visible, though due to the overcast weather, there isn't much reason for shadows to be cast. All angles and positions were intentional as I wanted the photos to turn out this way, as I preferred for some sections to be in and out of focus.
The light in these images is mostly edited as when these were taken, it was gloomy and darker and a cold tint was obvious on the original photos. I edited the pictures in hopes of giving them a warmer light and feel.
I find these photos to be successful and aesthetically pleasing as they turned out the way I had hoped. Though I am disappointed I did not capture more landscape, I still am satisfied with the outcome of these landscape images.

Landscape photo shoot ideas

Our landscape assignment will be do soon and it was our job today to find inspiration. I really like these photos and that is because of the gorgeous clouds! In a book, our teacher showed us, there was a very nice landscape picture showing mostly sky, and it was lovely and interesting but a cloud would have added so much more to the photo.
For this landscape photo shoot assignment, i really want to capture clouds and the architecture of some landscape like the beach or rocks or both. I feel so inspired by some of these photos and am really excited to find something!
From looking at these, I have gathered that when it comes to landscape, composition is key and its all about the area and what your photograph will be of. I already have ideas and can't wait to execute them.

Identity

In this assignment, we had to capture Identity. This figurative image shows the model, Jaida leaning against a rock looking sideways as the setting sun shines on her face.
In this photo, you can see the lines of her body and the rocks behind her. Also, the circle of light the sun created. the photo was fairly intentional as the sun was setting I angled it just so, so it would be in her face, like she is looking into who she is, and what she loves, and what her life means. Like the light is showing her, and shining on her path.
The image has a warm light and tone as the sun set always create a warm glow. And there is minor shadowing from the model and on the rock. This photo was taken outdoors.
I think this photo was successful. I like it. It was fun taking the assignment out of the classroom and SCPA campus and trying something new. Though this picture is nothing amazing, I still find it to be aesthetically pleasing and I am proud of my work. To me, this image is about being real and comfortable with yourself and who you are and letting the light be shone on that.

Group Project

In this assignment, we were told to portray each of the arts here at SDSCPA. This figurative image involves people in different positions with grass billowing behind and around them.
There are not many shapes in this picture, there are the lines and curves of our models and their props, and the straight and swayed lines of the grass overflowing behind them. The tones are bright and saturated, and there are many shadows being cast. The shot is focused and this was intentional.
In my opinion, this photo was successful. We give just a preview of all of the magnificent arts here at SCPA, and our the colors and models look so beautiful, the image, to me, is very aesthetically pleasing. Though I was an idiot, and lost my group's film, I still think we did a great job, and the photo turned out just as well in digital. But we should have been little more mindful of the background, and should have avoided having the fence in the setting, and found less patchy grass to shoot in. Also, the main model's face looks a little hard, though she looks so nice, a softer looking face would have been more appealing. Otherwise, I think it turned out fairly nice.

portrait assignment

   In this assignment, we were told to take a portrait of anyone. Naturally, I took a portrait of my best friend Jaida. But our assignment wasn't o just take a picture, but to create a moment that was captured in time, like Manjari Sharma. In this photo, you can see the model with a slight grin, gazing into the camera. She is standing in a doorway with natural lighting flooding over her face and body. In this figurative piece of work, you can see the squares of the tiles in the background, and the circles of Jaida's head and eyes. the image was in focus, and everything about it is intentional.

   This image is light, as I slightly adjusted the brightness and contrast to give it warmer and happier feel. We were laughing and having a good time and I just wanted to capture that like Sharma did. This was taken, basically outdoors as the model is emerging from a doorway into the sun.

   To me, this work was successful. I like the way it turned it out and am satisfied with my work. The photo is so clean and warm to me, and I feel a happy vibe from it, which is what was happening at the time. I like it!

Portrait Article Reflection

Jessica Gordon does a fabulous job of writing this lovely and inspirational critique on the success, work, and experiences of blossoming photographer, Manjari Sharma.
This article is very in-depth as it goes over Sharma's life and the decisions that led to her love for photography. I really enjoyed reading this article as I feel I actually gained a good deal of insight from it though the subject I appreciated the most, was the uniqueness of the process of the way she caputures her photos.
From what I read, I have collected that when it comes to photography, Sharma's passion is portrait taking. And not only are the portraits interesting and beautiful, the process of shooting and capturing such an image sounds just as enchanting. The article goes on to describe Sharma's discovery of intimacy and relationships in taking these photos. She captures more than just an asthetically pleasing portrait, but also a personal moment as her models turn the shooting area (Sharma's appartment's shower) into a confessional and let Sharma in to their hearts.
When I take portraits, I hope to have the same occurrences, where a model can feel comfortable enough to tell me their memories and stories. It definitely adds something to the photo as you can feel the closeness, and compatibility between model and photographer. Sharma inserted herself into the model's personal ora, and they inserted themselves right back, opening up to her and sharing their lives, making the out come of the photo so much more meaningful.
A portrait does not have to be racy, or happy or depressing, or it infact can be. A portrait is capturing a person, whether they are aware or not. I see it as one of the most intimate types of photography around. But a photograph is just a photograph, an image of a moment in time, and though the picture may be gorgeous, it lacks something when it is detatched from emotion.
Anyone can photograph a portrait, but it is surely something special and unique when you can capture more than image, but a moment, a story, an experience, in that photo as well.

best fraaaands!!

The image I have created is a bit peculiar as the first thing you see when you look at it is myself on a unicorn. The work is a bit abstract and fairly close in view. The photo consists of myself, a pretty unicorn, a billowing and green background, and a few words to enhance the humor in my photo.
The composition is simple and pretty centered. There is a sunny and warm tone to the photo with many shapes accentuating it. The image is focused and this was intentional as I specifically chose this photo knowing its composition ahead of time.
My message for this photo is just to create some laughs and show that this unicorn and I are besties!! The image is light and the background image was, I'm assuming, taken outside including the horse though my photo was staged and taken inside in the photo room.
This work was extremely successful in my opinion as it exceeded my expectations and I love it! It is fun and silly and every choice I made in the process of creating this turned out pretty swell. The process was not too difficult and I appreciated the variety of brush's, colors, etc. that was available for me to use. This was a fairly quick and easy assignment and I really enjoyed it.

photo softening

This was our Photo softening assignment. Though I didn't really enjoy it that much as I like when pictures are just natural, but it was a cool process with the layers and brushes! And it was interesting to see how people in the commercial business edit photos. This was a good and interesting process.

photoshot brush assignment

This was our brush assignment where we first had to have a head shot or more so, body shot taken of us in a plain white background. Then the process of brushing on Photo Shop came. Suprsingly it wasn't too difficult and I found my out come to be fairly asethetically pleasing.
I look forward to more photo shop assignments as they are a bit challenging but always turn out pretty nice. I like the process as it was not too hard and actuallly pretty fun creating something that you would see editied in a magazine.

sequence photoshoot

I really enjoyed this assignment and even the process of it too. Making the booklet was a bit tricky but that was really the most difficult part of the whole assignment other than trying to find inspiration. But overall, I 'd say my photos and booklet are fairly asthetically pleasing and I am happy with them.
The process of developing was something new as we made the prints much smaller but I like having little mini images and its less waste of paper. But the whole process of making a book, shooting and creating a story, printing and decorating is a lot of work and I feel very accomplished and kind of proud of what I have done, and I only hope it makes sense and gives a good laugh!

PhotoBooth Project

The process of the photoshop assignment was fairly easy. I took my photos at home on my own camera and just uploaded them at school and copied them and what not. I really like it, and just like photoShop in general. It is a really handy device. Though i hate these pictures of me as i look like a dork, I still enjoyed this assignment and the process along with it.

Studio Lighting

In this assignment, we had to work with studio lighting. My photo was simple as it plainly shows the model, Jaida, grasping a flower as she stares into the camera, with a plain square of light behind her. the image is figurative.

The shapes in this photo mainly consist of circles, curves, and lines. And basic shades and tones are seen as there are some shadows but mostly warm light, from the studio light of course. Everything in the photograph was intentional, as I stratigically placed the model's body and her position as well as the position of the flower and were she was looking directly.

The image is mostly light, as it "Studio Lighting" though it does have some shadowing in it. The photo was taken indoors in a lighted setting.

I think this photo was successful, as it was similar to what I wanted and I think made the requirements of how studio lighting photo should look. I enjoyed the process of adjusting the light and the basicness of it all was so simple and beautiful to me. I really like the photo and process of studio lighting, as it was finally something we could actually control and not have distractions. Just a blank background and some light. Very awesome opportunity and process.

Photoshop assignment: Lady GaGa under the sea!

This photoshop assignment proved to be quite the tricky task as I had to request help and start the tracing process over multiple times but all in all, I think it such a fabulous invention and will definitely be using it more in the future.
Finding a copyright free image of what I wanted was difficult to find, but eventually, the perfect picture of Lady GaGa popped up as well as a pretty image of the sea. Tracing Lady GaGa like i mentioned before, was not easy and I often made mistakes forcing me to start over but after that it was really quite simple. I just pulled up the background pasted my GaGa image and then flattened the work.
The process of the photoshop assignment gets easier with each experience and I eventually was even able to help others. I really enjoyed learning this and hope we have a chance to re-due the process!
