First Project, second image

This is the second photo i chose for our first project of depth perception. Here, you can see my model, Jaida, looking down at a little caterpillar. The caterpillar is closer than the model, but it is out of focus so it appears a bit distant. I believe this work is figurative.
The composition of this artwork is confined and narrow. The shapes seen in this photo consist of little ovals, such as the caterpillar and almost rectangular form of the model. The image, similar to my first, is in and out of focus. You can see the model is partially in focus and out. the ground is also like this, while everything else, like the caterpillar is out of focus. This was not done intentionally, my photographs always turn out to be one big accident.
In this photo, I am trying to convey curiosity and childhood. Like simpler times, when a little bug used to make your day and you felt so curious and adventurous. The image turned out very light, but with a little added contrast, it balanced the photo between light and dark. and it was taken outdoors on the pavement.
I believe this work was successful because, to me, the message was conveyed fairly clearly and this is sort of how I pictured and desired the image to come out as. I like it, and really, thats all that matters I guess.

First Project

Our first project was based on depth perception and in my photo it focuses on my model and the leaves. Though it turned out a bit bright, i really like it because you can see my model's face clearly and certain leaves are in and out of focus making the picture look interesting and serene feeling. I would say this photograph is figurative.
The picture is horizontal, with the model, jaida, deeper in the background and leaves feathering in the front of the photo. The image is in and out of focus, which wasn't really done intentionally, and is bright but dull in a sense. Shapes seen in this picture are the triangular diamond formed leaves and the circular shape of the model's head, and everything just sort of ties in nicely. A feeling or tone this image emotes is like a warm calmness that should make the viewer feel somewhat comforted and calm. The image turned out very bright and was taken outdoors. In my opinion, for my first project, this work was successful. I really enjoyed taking the photos and the whole experience of developing them was so interesting and difficult but fun too. The photo doesn't really have a message and does not convey much but I still feel that the picture was beautiful and I am looking forward to taking and developing more photographs.(:
